At the Markey Cancer Center we have many research programs that integrate optimal patient care with exciting laboratory discovery. Charitable funding for research has long been the cornerstone of our progress. Gifts from individuals and organizations to the Markey Cancer Foundation are often used as “seed grants” to support the new development of new cancer care and novel research programs. Private funding from the Foundation is vital because it enables doctors and researchers to obtain the pilot data to successfully compete for grant awards from the National Cancer Institute.
