PLEASE JOIN US IN THANKING

Please join us in thanking Maker’s Mark for donating the proceeds of the commemorative bottle program to the Markey Cancer Foundation. Over the next three years, this partnership will generate over $3 million for cancer research at the University of Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center.

Every dollar will contribute to the Foundation’s goal to develop programs, resources and services to a level consistent with National Cancer Institute designation and recognition as a premier, mid-south Comprehensive Cancer Center. In 29 years, the Markey Cancer Foundation has:

  • Built the four facilities that now compromise the Markey Cancer Center.
  • Raised over $53 million to support the development of the Markey Cancer Center.
  • Directed 90 cents out of every dollar to cancer programs at the Markey Cancer Center.

Support

GIVING TO MARKEY

When you give to Markey, you give the gift of life to an untold number of people who have or will have cancer, as well as their families and friends. Your financial contributions enable our scientists to pursue promising new ideas, to purchase sophisticated technology necessary for effective and efficient cancer research and ultimately to develop better methods of diagnosing, treating and preventing cancer.

Make A Gift

Donating Now?

Gifts by check, credit card or corporate matching provide immediate funding for cancer research or patient care programs. Your entire gift will go to the area you designate. If your gift is unrestricted, it will benefit the areas of greatest need within the Markey Cancer Center. Contributions to Markey are tax-deductible.

Programs you can support:

  • Ben F. Roach Endowment: This endowment will be a long-lasting legacy in honor and memory of our founder, Dr. Ben F. Roach.
  • Patient Support Program:  Provides snacks to chemotherapy patients, items for patient rooms, supports the Breast Cancer Support Group, and much more.
  • “I’ve Been Touched” Society: This society was created to identify the distinguished donors who offer leadership gifts in the same generous spirit as that of Mrs. Lucille Parker Markey.

Memorial, Honor & Special Occasion Gifts

Memorial gifts are made in memory of family members, friends and colleagues who have died. Honor gifts show someone special in your life a measure of affection, admiration or gratitude for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. You may wish to celebrate a special occasion in your life by encouraging family members, friends and colleagues to make donations to Markey in lieu of personal gifts. When such a gift is received, a special card or notification is sent to the family or the person.

Major Gifts

Individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations play an important role in supporting Markey. I addition to annual gifts, some demonstrate their commitment be establishing permanent funds for research, fellowships or faculty positions, by purchasing research equipment, by sponsoring special events, and by underwriting programs for professional and public education. Major gifts may be made outright or in memory/honor of others.

Planned Gifts

Gifts That Give Back: Gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts are planned gifts that can provide annual payments for you, your spouse or another person, reduce your taxes through charitable deduction and save estate/gift taxes.

Gifts by Will: If you are concerned about preserving income and investment but still want to make a gift to Markey, remember to include the Markey Cancer Foundation in your will. Markey can also be named as a beneficiary of retirement plans, trusts or life insurance policies. Such gifts can reduce estate taxes.

*Your contribution to Markey may qualify for a Corporate Matching Gift from your employer or your spouse’s employer. Please contact the company’s human resources department for more information about how you can increase your support to Markey.

Giving via the internet is available here, or you can contact Mary K. Roark.
