The Markey Cancer Foundation and You

The Markey Cancer Foundation looks to the future. With the goal of National Cancer Institute designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Markey Cancer Center focuses fundraising initiatives to reach this goal. The Foundation will be an integral part of the Markey Cancer Center’s success. It is with generous donations that we are able to provide the Commonwealth with advanced cancer care.

it is the people that makes Markey so special...
A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming for patients and their families. Fortunately, for more than 20 years patients have been able to turn to the Markey Cancer Center for leading-edge cancer care. Markey Cancer Center, a part of the award-winning UK HealthCare academic medical center, provides a distinct advantage to the people of Kentucky. The advantage is a synergistic relationship among those committed to quality, compassionate patient care, groundbreaking research and top-notch education.

Award Winning Care

Families have a place to come that offers state-of-the-art care. But it is the people that makes Markey so special: the goal — and end result — is the best cancer care for Kentuckians.

Our patients and their family members have tremendous praise for the
personalized, high-quality care they receive from Markey Cancer Center
Our care and our physicians have been featured in publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Best Doctors in America® and America’s Top Doctors®. More important, our patients and their family members have tremendous praise for the personalized, high-quality care they receive from Markey Cancer Center specialists and staff. A single visit provides patients the chance to meet with a full array of cancer specialists. A multidisciplinary team joins forces to define and coordinate an integrated treatment plan best suited to each patient’s unique needs.

Included on the team are nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers and other health professionals, with access to other physicians from various specialties who provide their expertise as needed. This approach gives the patient a comprehensive “second opinion,” one of the many advantages of treatment at an academic medical center.

The power of people... all of us working together for the same purpose--the cures for cancer. There is power in our commitment, and the underlying strength of our cause that will, one day, find a cure.
